The rumours were almost immediate – the moment news of Marc Jacobs leaving Louis Vuitton was official on October 2, 2013, fashion punters put ex-Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere in top running to take over Jacobs’ position.

Now it seems that according to the New York Magazine on October 11, 2013, Ghesquiere has been appointed as Louis Vuitton’s new creative director. However the French fashion house has not confirmed the news.

Ghesquiere has been sorely missed since he left Balenciaga in November 2012 and seems to be a good fit to take over from Jacobs at Louis Vuitton. Jacobs held court at the luxury brand for 16 years, spearheading many unforgettable over-the-top shows and memorable collaborations. On the other hand, Ghesquiere will be backed up by his experience of reviving Balenciaga to meet sky high expectations – if the rumours are true.

Stay tuned as we bring you the latest in the Louis Vuitton saga!
