Tommy Hilifiger Spring 2014 collection, NYFW

Fashion Week is in full swing in New York. Behind the scenes at the fashion shows, Paris Modes and Relaxnews met with designers who share comments and thoughts on their collections. Here, we bring you the highlights of these exclusive interviews.

Tommy Hilfiger
“It’s a surfing-inspired collection. It’s a great inspiration because, from Melrose to Malibu, it’s a California lifestyle, it’s about the sun and the sand, it’s about color, it’s about modernism, it’s about a sporty lifestyle.”

Carolina Herrera

“This is all inspired by the kinetic art. Kinetic is very visual. When you lay one material on the top of the other, it creates that plural multidimensional experience, and it’s also very feminine because all the dresses are in movment. They are made in chiffon, in organza, voile, and so on. I like … to give women the chance to mix their own look and create their own style with the Carolina Herrera dresses.”

Phillip Lim

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2014 Collection, NYFW

“[For my collection] I wanted something strong to stand on, something sure. I think it goes back to landscapes, torrents and rocks. They never let us down, we destroy them. This time it was like, let’s crack it open and show the beauty of it all.”

Thom Browne

Thom Browne Spring 2014 Collection, NYFW

“The collection was loosely based on Elizabethan clowns … set in an insane asylum, so I thought it would be funny and interesting to put really serious clothing next to this kind of crazy craziness … I really wanted a challenge and get 40 very different looking things.”
