Following the success of its fall/winter 2017 capsule collection created with JW Anderson, Uniqlo is repeating the experience with a second collaborative capsule for spring/summer 2018. This ready-to-wear clothing line for men and women will retail in Uniqlo stores worldwide and online at www.uniqlo.com.
For the time being, Japanese brand Uniqlo has only released minimal details about the upcoming collaboration. While a launch date should be announced soon, it is already known that the collection will combine the British heritage of the JW Anderson brand with Uniqlo’s LifeWear philosophy.
The first capsule from Uniqlo and designer Jonathan Anderson — founder of the JW Anderson label — focused on fabrics and styles synonymous with British fashion heritage, such as tweed coats, Fair-Isle knitwear and duffle coats. Iconic pieces from the Uniqlo wardrobe, such as lightweight padded jackets, were also revisited in a blue and red tartan.
“The first Uniqlo and JW Anderson collaboration was super exciting for me and I am very happy with the results. I am proud of it and I think the pieces are incredibly well made. The line was also a good bridge between the ideal of British classicism and my own brand. The 2018 spring/summer collection is about items that interlink with each other,” said Jonathan Anderson in a statement.
For many years, Uniqlo has made a point of working with some of the biggest names in fashion on collaborative collections. The Japanese brand has notably joined forces with Ines de la Fressange, Christophe Lemaire and Carine Roitfeld.
