Hosted by the British Fashion Council, the Fashion Awards 2018 is a yearly event that commemorates exceptional individuals whose imagination and creativity had impacted the fashion industry over the past twelve months. Held at the iconic venue of The Royal Albert Hall in London on 10th of December, that Monday evening placed a spotlight on influential industry key leaders that had transformed the fashion brand and business we see today.

Competing alongside fashion heavy-weights such as Alessandro Michele, Clare Waight Keller, Kim Jones and Virgil Abloh, Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli walked away with the title of Designer of the Year this year.

Largely believed that it was his burst of new creative energy (by refreshing the label’s menswear and creating iconic accessories like the Rockstud) that gave him the win, here are eight other achievements in his fashion career that may have helped him to bag fashion’s big prize.
