According to Instagram, Tom Ford was the designer that generated the most Instagram buzz in New York, as Business of Fashion reports. The designer zoomed in on the concept of female empowerment, dressing the models as cat-women and showcasing purses emblazoned with the words “pussy power.”

In London, heritage label Burberry took the title, possibly due to the fact that the show was British designer Christopher Bailey’s last for the label after 16 years at its creative helm. His final goodbye featured a rainbow-hued homage to the LGBT community.

Meanwhile in Milan it was Gucci’s show — a presentation that made the headlines thanks to the inclusion of a series of fake severed heads served up as controversial accessories — that provoked the most Instagram activity, putting creative director Alessandro Michele in the spotlight.

Chanel swept up in Paris, with a show that took place in a fairytale forest built into the city’s Grand Palais. However, the brand was criticized by the France Nature Environment group for the use of real trees in the elaborate set.

Supermodel Kaia Gerber, who kicked off her catwalking career back in September 2017, generated more buzz than any other model during her second season of ready-to-wear shows. The rising fashion star has had an impressive start to 2018, landing 21 fashion shows for the AW18 season, in addition to fronting campaigns for Chanel, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein. Hot on her heels were Instagram powerhouses Gigi and Bella Hadid in second and third place respectively.
