Like every luxury item (bags, shoes and jewellery), the pearl has gone through many iterations. They’ve been considered a decadent must-have in the ‘20s, associated with that jewellery your grandmother wore on special occasions in the ‘90s but in today’s context, Carrie K is modernizing it by well, putting her signature witty twist on it.

Simply titled “Pearl Bar” Carrie K’s latest collection titled “Pearls of Wisdom” uses four different grades of pearls – Freshwater (the least expensive version), Akoya (pearls grown in Japan and China which are smoother and rounder than the freshwater variety), Tahitian (they come in naturally dark colours and are cultivated in well, Tahiti) and Southeast Asian.

Pictured here is the Pearls of Wisdom necklace that can features a lock clasp, freshwater pearls (alternatively, opt for the other three kinds) and Carrie K’s signature safety pin clasp – attach it to a chain necklace, layer it over an existing chain necklace or wrap it around your arm to make it a bracelet. There are 12 permutations when you wear it (and even more if you stretch your imagination just that little bit more).

As part of Carrie K’s initative to promote meaningful gifting, you can opt for the “little birdie service” – where you can send a little “whisper” of your preferred gift for an upcoming special occasion to make that gift just that little more meaningful.
