“How difficult is it to make a bag that neatly fits a modern person’s essentials? Something that’s portfolio-like without being a portfolio…something that looks like a fashion accessory and looks good with whatever you wear to work.”
That’s what Joseph Lor, 32, the CEO of local leather label Tocco Toscano (he’s also the son of the brand’s founder) and Faire Leather Co, and his friend Ryan Choy, 30, the chief brand officer for both brands, discussed over drinks one night less than a year ago.
With both their background on leather goods, that something became Bond Padfolio: a leather clutch-like organiser that’s no bigger than a portfolio with 10 compartments: a big one for a laptop or tablet, one for a mobile phone and its portable charger, and eight other for other stuff (business cards, wallet, earphones). It also unzips (using YKK’s corrosion resistant zip) from end to end to open flat for the easiest access, and is made locally at Tocco Toscano’s leather factory with artisans with over three decades of experience.
The Bond Padfolio is $249, come in two types of leather – embossed (in burgundy, navy and black) and vegetable tanned (in tan, dark brown, navy and black), and from https://faireleather.co/.
