US designer Virgil Abloh, who was announced as the new artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton back in March, has been teasing his secretive project with the Swedish furniture giant on Instagram. The creative is set to take part in a conversation discussing the collaboration, which will be livestreamed on Instagram on April 30.
The collaboration was first announced last June, and fans have already been informed that it will include "a fresh take on the FRAKTA bag" as well as a homewares collection for generation Y. "We're looking at that first phase of adult life, when you start making purchases for your space," Abloh said in a statement published on High Snobiety at the time. "Largely people grow up in their parents' environment. They've never had to consider furniture. Then when they're off on their own and have their own aesthetic, what are their first purchases? I'm interested in thinking about how those purchases are informed."
Abloh, who previously studied architecture before moving into the fashion industry, is no stranger to high-profile collaborations. His label Off-White, which catapulted him to fame within the clothing business, has worked with Nike, Vans and Moncler, to name just a few. The creative is set to stage his first show for Louis Vuitton in Paris this June during men's fashion week.
