Our favourite bags and heritage trench coats from Christopher Bailey’s last ever collection with the house

Highlighting gay rights and paying homage to LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) youth for his final show, Burberry’s former creative director Christopher Bailey turned his lens to rainbow motifs —  a reference to the internationally recognised gay pride flag which was incorporated into the signature check designs and puffer jackets.

The Spring Summer ‘18 Burberry show employed the See-Now-Buy-Now concept, so when half the collection flew in to Singapore in just a week after the show itself, we couldn’t help but go check it out immediately.

Here are the top 5 items we’ve picked out from the collection that sits in the Burberry store at Ion Orchard.

1. Burberry Belt Bag

This new trench-style inspired bag is a new It bag in the making, given how it’s been seen on the arms of many celebrities as of late. Inspired by the Brit brand’s iconic trench coats, the Belt Bag is available in 11 styles, medium and large sizes and a statement belt detail.

2. Burberrys t-shirt

Fun fact: the original brand name for Burberry used to be “Burberrys” (yes, you did not read that wrong) back before it had its name officially changed in the ‘90s. Looking into Burberry’s archives, Bailey digged out interesting trivia about the brand and incorporated those into this collection. This T-shirt is a prime example of that.

3. Classic trench coat

Think of Burberry and a few things come to mind. One of which will always be the trench coat. Speaking of trench coats, we unveil what these recognised signatures at the house are made of here. The trench we’ve picked out here has chic side slits and it’s lined with Burberry’s signature plaid design as well.

4. Rainbow check jacket

This reversible windbreaker features an on-trend oversized silhouette and dons the signature print of the SS’18 collection: the signature check design with a rainbow motif. We just love how practical this jacket is; it’s great for the chilly AC in the office, can be worn in two different ways, and a great option for dress-down days.

5. Rainbow check sneakers

These casual high-tops also feature the rainbow check print — a posh upgrade to the regular sneaker. This works great as an everyday shoe as it’s comfortable and versatile at that. Pair these with a pair of jeans and a crisp white shirt for the office.
