The annual Star Awards concluded on Sunday night (April 22), and as expected, local celebrities brought their A-game when it came to dressing for the red carpet.
Veteran actress and “Queen of Caldecott Hill” Zoe Tay stood out from the crowd with a dramatic structured gown, while young favourites such as Jayley Woo opted for sexy, skin-baring column gowns.
Not to mention, huge international names like Charmaine Sheh and Joanne Tseng, who also turned up for the star-studded event in Singapore, dressed in regal ensembles.

We didn’t expect any less from Ah Jie Zoe Tay when she showed up clad in a gorgeous dramatic gown in a geometric tile print. She has, after all, been known for her chic sense of style. Featuring peplum details at the hip and a sweeping length, the Toni Maticevski dress also sported transparent netted notches and embroidered patterning; talk about attention to detail.

Hayley Woo donned a black v-neck gown from Lebanese bridal and couture designer Saiid Kobeisy. Boasting of Eastern-influence embroidery, sheer nude panelling, polka dotted tulle and a glamorous ball gown silhouette, the regal number was practically fit for a princess.

The other half of Singapore’s very own ‘Olsen twins’ Jayley Woo wore a scintillating sequinned number that was classy and elegant. Boasting of a low back and a slinky column silhouette, the Salvatore Ferragamo dress kept all eyes on the actress that night. Though she didn’t make the cut for nominations this year, the host of Channel U’s Take A Break had bagged two Top 10 trophies before in previous years.

The 2018 Star Awards was a big night for Carrie Wong. The young actress was nominated for Best Actress for her role in the Channel 8 drama My Friends from Afar. Though she ultimately lost to Rebecca Lim, she still bagged a trophy for the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes category. She nailed her style game to a tee during the night itself, dressing in a low-cut black sheath dress with gorgeous draping effect and slightly-sheer fabric.

It’s clear from her ensemble that the charismatic starlet took the minimalist route when it came to her outfit. Ya Hui, who also won an award in the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes category, opted for a simple and elegant Max Mara dress with a fitted bodice, long sleeves, and a playful side slit. The actress also accessorised in Charles & Keith and silver jewellery from Tiffany & Co.

Nominated for Top 20 Most Popular Female Artistes, Bonnie Loo wore a champagne coloured dress with knife pleats and ladylike ruffles along the sleeves and neckline. Her revealing low back was a twist that gave the typically sweet actress a sexy appeal.

Special guest Joanne Tseng floored the crowd in a halter neck gown from English luxury boutique DC Couture. The Taiwanese actress, who had flown in specially to attend the Star Awards, had us literally seeing stars with her beautiful dress clad in constellations.

Charmaine Sheh was yet another prominent overseas personality who made a special guest appearance at the Star Awards last night alongside fellow Hong Kong actor Simon Yam. The Hong Kong A-lister, who was given the honour of presenting the night’s highly anticipated Best Actress award, wore a mint green dress with sheer lace panelling and colourful floral embroidery fitting of her poise and elegant persona.

Last but most definitely not least, Rebecca Lim reigns with one of the most stunning gowns we’ve seen of the night. The actress, who also won Best Actress this year beating out serious competitors such as Zoe Tay and Chen Liping for her role in the local drama The Lead, wore a stunning emerald green column gown with a jewel neckline and aztec print details. We’re sure she must have been delighted to have been awarded such an impressive accolade, and we will remember her, all the more, in this glorious moment because of her memorable outfit.
