The first of its kind in Asia (and pretty much everywhere else in the world, really), Miu Miu’s disco-themed pop-up sits glamorously on the first floor atrium of Paragon Shopping Centre, Singapore.
The suspended disco balls, plush pink furnishing and even a bar showcasing — nope, not booze, but shelves upon shelves of the latest Miu Miu bags. These all add up to the glittering, groovy facade of the establishment which houses key clothing, accessories and shoes from the Italian fashion house’s Resort ‘18 collection.
From interactive photo booths to a collection of newly-interpreted renditions of Miu Miu’s signature bags exclusive to the pop-up, here are the top 4 coolest things to look out for at the temporary space.
1. Exclusive series of metallic Miu Lady, My Miu and the Jewel bags
Nothing gets us more riled up than hearing the words “limited edition” and “designer bags” being used in the same sentence. But here’s where things get even more exciting: These reimagined offerings of Miu Miu’s institutional bag styles are currently only available in Singapore — at the disco pop-up. These bags will only be launched internationally come April 2018, giving us a two-month head start.
Let that sink in, ladies… you’ll be amongst the first few in the world to schelp one of these metallic laminated-leather bags which were created specially in conjunction with the disco pop-up.
Purposefully given a metallic, or as the Italians say it ‘laminato’, effect, the classic Miu Lady has not only be given striking colour treatments (think: bright pink, icy blue and reflective silver), it can also be found with the signature Matelassé quilt detail iconic to the house. On another design, the glitzy, dazzling jewels once seen on the Miu Lady bag has been switched out in favour of resin mine stones, paying an ode to ‘70s bohemian style ala Saint-Tropez.
New details also go into play with other identifiable styles likes the My Miu and Jewel bags, as they are rendered in a variety of metallic colourways.
2. Curated seasonal collections for Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day
Perfect for the upcoming festive season, the pop-up store features sections dedicated to showcasing curated collections of accessories, shoes and even ready-to-wear for Chinese New Year as well as Valentine’s Day. There’s a collection of T-shirts, sneakers and jewellery with poodle-shaped motifs running through every item for the Year of the Dog, and then there’s pristine heart-shaped earrings and bag charms taking centre stage for V’Day.
3. An interactive photo booth for you and your friends to take fun gifs at
If you just so happen to be passing by, don’t be shy to have a go at the photo booth-cum-gif-machine at the pop-up. Adding to the fun element surrounding the store, this machine gives you both the physical copy of the photos, as well as a digital gif that can be sent to you via email.
4. Groovy outfits and accessories from the house’s Resort ‘18 collection
Scattered throughout the store, you’ll also find key items displayed from Miu Miu’s Resort ‘18 collection. Stiletto heels with tutti frutti-like gemstones, retro shades in pastel colours and funky frames, as well as the predominantly auto racing-inspired ready-to-wear complete the all-around whimsical vibe of the store.
