NEW YORK – American fashion designer Marc Jacobs has just shown his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week.

The presentation took place at the Lexington Avenue Armory, after Marc had to move his main line’s fashion show to later in the week due to the impact of Hurricane Irene.

The collection is usually showed earlier in the day, so the show had more of a party vibe than usual.

“And, though it was most likely pure coincidence, the clothes had a new attitude too. They were sleeker, cleaner and more grown up than they have been in recent memory,” reports WWD.

The clothes were far more minimalist that people have come to expect from Marc by Marc Jacobs. That doesn’t mean they were boring, as colour was the big story of the show.

Models wore navy tailored trousers teamed with longer length blue/grey jackets with a pop of orange courtesy of the lining. Orange has already become one of the biggest looks of the catwalk, with Marc going for a similar colour palette to Victoria Beckham’s high end collection.

Shift dresses carved from the hue came down the runway, while blue short A-line skirts were teamed with silky tops in the colour. Red, emerald green and stripes also featured in the polished collection, which was a hit with critics. © COVER MEDIA
