Blahnik's J Crew line on holdManolo Blahnik’s collaboration with J. Crew has been put on hold.

Fashion fans have been eagerly anticipating the range after they were debuted at New York Fashion Week in February.

However, it’s now been confirmed the footwear won’t be available for some time.

“J. Crew was one of the most exciting shows during Fashion Week and we were thrilled to be part of it,” Blahnik president George Malkemus said in a statement to elle.com.

“Although we were looking forward to the potential collaboration between our two brands, we both came to the conclusion that fall wasn’t the right time. We hope to do something together in the future.”

New York Post claims the shoe company was unable to make the volume of pieces required by the American retailer.

J. Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons has assured fans the line hasn’t been completely killed off.

“We have a mutual admiration for each other and while we couldn’t do this for fall, we hope to collaborate in the future,” she said.

The original plan was for the shoes to be made available on J. Crew’s website and in some shops. It’s thought they would retail for around US$600 (approximately S$742.31).

Manolo Blahnik has previously spoken about his distrust of big collaborations, saying: “I have been approached so many times to do one, but I don’t want to work for a big company where I’ll have to have lots of meetings where I’m told what I can and can’t do.” © COVER MEDIA
