Lulu Guinness says her lip emblem was a vital part of her Uniqlo collection.

The famed bag designer has created 14 different T-shifts in collaboration with the Japanese store, which will be sold for £14.90 each.

Lulu is renowned for using lips in her pieces, having even designed a clutch bag in that design. Some of her Uniqlo pieces are emblazoned with lips and she says there was no way they wouldn’t make an appearance.

“I wanted it to follow my mainline handbag collection, so I looked at my inspirations for the Spring/Summer 12 collection and pulled together my favourite designs,” she explained. “My iconic lips were important, as was my Cameo and my favourite print, Doll Face, inspired by Peggy Moffitt.”

Lulu was inspired by many different things when she was creating her Spring/Summer 12 line. She looked all around the world for shapes, textures and colour combinations which appealed to her.

“My S/S 12 collection is called Bric-a-Brac and I got inspiration from markets around the world – India, New York, London and Marrakech,” she told the May edition of UK magazine Glamour. “I’m also inspired by iconic women, such as Elsa Schiaparelli and Peggy Guggenheim.” – © Cover Media
