Could this be the start of the rehabilitation of Kristen Stewart? After a very public and very embarrassing falling-out with her on- and offscreen lover Robert Pattinson last year, the former child star – yes, Kristen was the kid playing alongside Jodie Foster in the 2002 home invasion thriller “Panic Room” – is poised to go high fashion with her latest gig as the face of Chanel’s 2014 Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection.

Kaiser Karl’s puzzling decision to run with Kristen for Chanel’s upcoming campaign – cattier commentators might dismiss the post-“Twilight” starlet as a has-been – makes more sense when you consider the Old Western-themed pieces presented at the show. With all the weathered leather boots and distressed denim on display, the slouchy separates from the collection fit Kristen’s famously tomboyish persona like a (double C-embossed) kid glove.

Besides, this isn’t Kristen’s first brush with high fashion. She fronted Balenciaga’s Florobotanica fragrance campaign back in 2012, and has been shot at high-profile events clad in Chanel – indeed, her orange leather pant-and-cropped top ensemble at the Dallas show (shown above) was taken straight off the French brand’s Spring 2014 runway.

Due to drop in May 2014, keep a mascaraed eye out for Kristen as the new Karl cowgirl in the Lagerfeld-shot campaign – all beauty bets are off as to whether she’ll be sporting the gorgeous platinum cheek pigments seen on the runway. Oh, and here’s hoping the actress would have made up with her “Twilight” beau by then!
