Kate Moss billboard injures shoppersA giant Kate Moss billboard has collapsed on London’s busiest shopping street injuring four people.

Three women and a man were rushed to hospital after the 15-foot advertising board for fashion store Mango fell on top of them on Oxford Street yesterday at 4.15pm.

Those injured included a man in his early 60s, a woman in her mid-40s and a 23-year-old woman, a Scotland Yard spokesman told the BBC.

One had a suspected back injury, while others suffered minor injuries.

“Police carriers backed on to the hoarding to support it while efforts were made by workmen to secure it,” the spokesman said. “It was the kind of hoarding that surrounds a shop when it is being refurbished.”

A London Fire Brigade said three fire engines, four fire rescue units, around 40 fire fighters, police and ambulance attended the scene.

An eyewitness added that part of the street was closed to traffic while the emergency services attended the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and a spokesman said: “We are aware and making initial inquiries.” IMAGE: @RONNIEJOICE
