Karl Karl Lagerfeld to guest edit newspaperLagerfeld is to be the guest editor of Metro International newspapers for one day next year.

The German designer will take the helm of the series of publications on February 7.

As global guest editor, it’s predicted as many as 800 million people will read what Lagerfeld has to say.

“Lagerfeld will spend the day in the company’s Paris newsroom working with editors and providing illustrations and commentary for ‘The World According to Karl’ edition,” reports WWD.

The edition of the newspaper will mark the beginning of the Spring/Summer 12 series of Fashion Weeks, which are held in New York, London, Milan and Paris. Coverage will feature in versions of the paper available in 100 cities in 22 countries worldwide.

“I love daily papers and it’s fun to be part of one of them just for the day. Metro is on a worldwide scale and it’s even more fun,” the designer said.

The publication is planning to make the most of having Lagerfeld on board for the day.

In the run-up a fashion-led competition will be staged, with the winner receiving the chance to come to Paris and work as the designer’s editorial assistant. The lucky person will also be given some pieces from his latest collections.

Lagerfeld has his own label, and also works for Chanel and Fendi. Lady Gaga was the last star to guest-edit the newspapers, taking the reins on May 17 of this year. © COVER MEDIA
