One easy spring/summer 2015 trend you can tackle now is the colour yellow. The sunny colour popped up on the runways of Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Cushnie Et Ochs, Carolina Herrera and more.

Like florals, it is not a particularly groundbreaking trend for spring/summer, but a nice one nonetheless. The colour is easy to wear and is energisingly bright.

Make sure to pick a hue right for your skin tone. Fairer complexions can carry off yellow shades with a more neon or blue undertone, while olive or darker complexions look nice in warm, almost mustard hues.

That being said, the best rule of thumb is to hold the fabric against your face and see how flattering that yellow is for you in particular.

For those who are a bit cautious about the bold hue, start with separates. In the Michael Kors show, there was a great yellow skirt paired with a classic white button-down shirt and brown belt (photo 1). At Ralph Lauren it was yellow tops and jackets combined with khaki and olive pieces (photo 2).

If you are feeling brave, an all yellow look is extremely striking and fresh. For evening, it is a great alternative to the usual black, navy or red gowns. You can adjust the impact of your look by switching up the saturation of the yellow of the dress.

At Carolina Herrera (photo 3) and Ralph Lauren (photo 4), the yellows were paler and more buttery, giving off an impression that was delicate and sweet.

Over at Cushnie Et Ochs (photo 5), the vibe was bolder and sexier, not only because of the brand’s signature cut-outs, but also because of the more vibrant shade of yellow.
