Think pink thumb

October has become known around the world as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here at herworldPLUS we are all for supporting good causes through our passion (and obsession) with fashion! Designers and local brands alike have created special pieces especially to highlight the need for women (and men) to regularly check their breasts as this is where the old adage, prevention is better than cure, really rings true.

Personally, I’m not a fan of pink! I’ve always found it hard to find a shade which doesn’t wash out my skin tone and it’s a colour which growing up in the 90s was constantly gendered and seen as girly. However, I’ve been inspired by Singapore and international street style stars as to how to work pink and look chic, not trite! Be equally inspired by these #OOTDs and the products you can shop to rock a rose-tinted piece or two this month as we think pink.

Creative brains and founder behind Collate The Label, Velda rocks this gorgeous separate from her own label with a casual tee and white sneakers, showing us how pink tailoring and wardrobe classics go perfectly together.

Jade Seah

Ms Seah rocks her cross body bag with a pullover and sunnies. Just a flash of pink to accentuate her pastel shades can liven up greys and black. Shop Ralph Lauren’s specially designed drawstring bag in pink nappa leather to accessorise like Jade.

Now in its 15th year, the Pink Pony Fund, an initiative started by Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation will donate 50% of the proceeds of the bag to the Breast Cancer Foundation in its fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

We love Nadia’s individual style and uncompromising taste. She proves that being cool as can be and wearing pastel pleats aren’t mutually exclusive. The coral lip, side swept hair and classic white tee urbanise the look instantly.

Beatrice Tan

Go subtle and work blush tones in silky fabrics like Beatrice Tan. For a subtle nod to this month’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, wrap yourself up in DVF’s specially designed scarf. ‘Love is life’ is printed all over the scarf, we love it for a chic airport outfit cover up and best of all 100% of the proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Andrea Chong

Dreamy and ethereal, Andrea Chong looks simply divine in these pleated pants. The shade of pink you pick is everything when it comes to styling this colour; bright, popping hues work best with darker or yellow undertoned skin whilst fairer or red undertones look gorgeous in pastels and candy floss concoctions.

Loafers never go out of style, we love these lambskin pretties from Pazzion. 30% of the proceeds of this limited edition shoe go towards the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Lambskin loafers, $73, at Pazzion stores nationwide or online.
