According to Lyst, the online fashion marketplace, 2014 saw a lot of sales of mini skirts, capes and boyfriend jeans … Did you buy into any of these trends?
A mini and a cape, two of the most bought items of 2014 according to Lyst. Image: Showbit
What about some of the other streetstyle “must-haves”? Apparently people spent 865 hours LOOKING AT Balenciaga’s sneakers! (We’re not sure how many people actually bought them though). Top in the bag stakes was Mansur Gavriel’s bucket bag, it was apparently in the top three of Lyst’s most viewed products (also not sure how many of you bought one, since it’s almost always sold out).
When it comes to prints apparently florals are sooooooooo over; around 14,000 more shoppers bought leopard print than girly florals in 2014; what about you? Did you ditch flowers in favour of animals?
As for the big luxe labels, Insta-worthy streetstyle items … who actually splashed out on what?
According to Lyst, Anya Hindmarch Kelloggs bag beat Moschino’s McDonalds bag; Valentino’s Rock Stud flats were more popular than Charlotte Olympia’s Cat flats; the Givenchy rottweiler tee sold more than Kenzo’s tiger sweatshirt; the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli clutch outsold Proenza Schouler’s PS1 clutch; and Nike’s Air Max sneakers were more popular than Adidas’ Gazelles … So which of these trends did you indulge in?
A mini, check; a cape, check (Burberry no less) but also a Moschino McDonalds thingy … more fashion victim than fashion fiend? Image: Showbit
When it came to brands, apparently Saint Laurent, Valentino, Burberry, Givenchy, Isabel Marant, Tory Burch, Dolce & Gabbana, Moncler, Lanvin and Balmain (in that order) was were you spent the most money ‒ maybe because those brands are some of the most expensive? 🙂
As for colours, well … We weren’t that exciting as you’d expect. The most popular colour was black, followed by gray, then white, although blue was the most popular colour for bikinis says Lyst (see below).
