Gucci Spring Summer 2012 inspired by Art decoFrida Giannini says “art deco” continues to be a great source of inspiration for her.

The creative director of Gucci took ideas from the period when creating her Spring/Summer 12 collection.

Monochrome and stripes were big looks in the line, with structured jackets paired with looser trousers and shimmering knee-length dresses boasting deep v necks.

“Art deco, because it’s one of my favourite periods. It’s rich in the visual arts, literature and architecture,” she replied to the March edition of UK magazine Marie Claire, when asked about her inspiration for Spring/Summer.

Frida thinks many women worry too much about what they wear.

Although keeping an eye on what’s featured in style magazines is fun, she believes the most impressive women don’t slavishly follow trends.

“A stylish woman is someone who is unique, who has her own singular interpretation of fashion, whatever she wears, whatever look she adopts,” Frida explained.
