Giles Deacon has teamed up with Superga to create a capsule footwear collection for next summer.
The British designer and the Italian shoe brand have produced three designs, including a printed pony creeper, which is available in fuchsia, military green and beige.
Deacon also used printed snakeskin on a classic Superga sneaker and a high-top style, embellishing both with studs.
The Giles for Superga range will retail starting from 150 euros, or around $193, and will be available at high-end boutiques, including L’Eclaireur in Paris and Dover Street Market in London.
Deacon follows in the steps of luxury fashion houses House of Holland and The Row, headed by Henry Holland and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen respectively, who have collaborated with Superga in the past.
“I like the idea of design for everyone. Whatever the price, a thing should be well designed,” Deacon told British newspaper the Metro.
“It’s like making your references from a good punk band to Mahler. There’s no reason you can’t listen to both. Both think that, for something to be valid from an idea or design-level, it has to come from some higher place. It can, but of course it doesn’t always have to. Something can be hilariously banal and quite good. It depends on how it’s worked, approached, developed and then produced.” – COVER MEDIA
