Gigi Hadid’s debut collection with Tommy Hilfiger last year created a media whirlwind, and rightly so with these two iconic names collaborating. Following the model’s appearance on the Tommy X Gigi runway in September 2016, Women’s Wear Daily reported that the American fashion label’s website traffic shot up by a whopping 900 per cent.
So it’s no surprise when we hear that fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger is partnering 21-year-old Hadid a second time for his Spring / Summer 2017 collection. The new collaboration, which is set to be available from February 8, sees Hadid enlivening the label’s signatures and updating them with a contemporary California chic vibe.
“I was really excited to design a spring collection and celebrate my California upbringing and easy-going style,” says Hadid. “I’m so honoured that Tommy wanted a second collection from me!”

The collection features a series of casual pieces and beach-appropriate essentials like a raglan bomber, printed maxi dress, bathing suit, and denim bomber. “I did pieces that would fit into my spring and summer days,” explains Hadid. “I wanted them to be easy to style on the go.”
The global Instagram ‘It’ girl has also worked with Hilfiger on the accessories and footwear including backpacks and badge wedges and sneakers for this collection.

And how does she feel about the switch from modelling to designing for a second time? Hadid reveals: “I think getting closer and closer to the design team with each meeting has made for a really fun and free spirited creative environment.”
