January has always been a month of setting goals and targets so that we have something to work towards over the course of the year.

While the six steps we’ve recommended previously might seem like they were meant for serious life goals, fashion girls can apply these rules to their style life if they are looking to amp up their sartorial game.

Find out what you should focus on to better every aspect of your fashion life in 2017.

Her World's sustainability issue

#1 Stop consuming mindlessly

Clothing and textiles are the most polluting industries in the world, after oil. We need to acknowledge the fact that sustainable fashion is not a lofty concept that does not concern us.

We should strive towards a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on the environment and social responsibility.

We can start by being more aware of the labels (i.e. Stella McCartney and Clare Vivier are some labels that does not sacrifice sustainability for style) we buy and cut down on unnecessary purchases (i.e. another trendy top that we will toss after three wears) that will probably end up in the junkyard in no time.

#2 Take good care of your stuff

Treat all your clothes with love and care, no matter how much you paid for them. The price tag of the garment or accessory does not determine the worth of the clothing. It’s more about how these pieces can work for you in the long run.

If you take good care of the items you purchase, it will result in two great benefits.

Firstly, you get to save the money that might be spent on replacing broken items, and will have excess money to invest in another style worthy piece. Secondly, you get to save the earth! (Refer to point #1)

#3 Clean up your shopping act

If you feel like you constantly have nothing to wear even though you buy plenty of clothes regularly, you should rethink the way you shop. Wouldn’t it be a breeze to dress up in the mornings if your wardrobe was filled with only flattering clothes that you love?

Whenever you shop, make sure to ask yourself these questions here before you commit to a purchase. Never buy on impulse or succumb to peer pressure!

#4 Start organising your wardrobe

This is a #diedie must do task for any shopping-savvy and fashion-conscious woman. Think about it: There’s little point in owning the latest bag or dress if you can’t find it in your closet when you’re getting dressed.

By having a well-organised wardrobe, it helps you to draw a clear picture of what you have and don’t have in your wardrobe. This helps you to maximise all your sartorial purchases and eliminates the possibility of you buying stuff you already have plenty of or don’t really need.

It also makes it easier to get dressed in the morning because all the pieces you own are visible at one glance!

#5 Ignore outdated style rules

It’s the 21st century but there are still many outdated style rules floating around. As the saying goes, rules are meant to be broken!

You should not let these silly rules hold you back from a more stylish you. Have fun and most importantly, be confident in your own skin. Only then will you be able to shine and impress the people around you.
