Elite Model Look Singapore 2012 castings THUMBNAIL

Who says Singapore girls and guys aren’t hot enough to model internationally? Not the team from Elite Model Look, the internationally renowned modelling contest that’s discovered supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Gisele Bundchen, Constance Jablonski, Sun Fei Fei and Ming Xi.

The only modelling competition that offers an opportunity for young women – and now young men – to become top fashion models, Elite Model Look (EML) was established in 1983 and now covers over 60 countries with over 350,000 candidates participating every year.

Now Singapore stunners have the opportunity to enter the competition. Castings for both male and female models have already started via the internet on the EML website or via its Facebook page, but now the real life versions are kicking off.

On Saturday, October 13, 2012, head down to ARC, the Alexander Retail Centre; on Sunday, October 14, 2012, head to J Cube; on Saturday, October 20, 2012, go to VivoCity and on Sunday, October 21, 2012, head to Tampines Mall.

To be eligible to take part in the castings: Female models need be aged between 14 and 22 years of age and at least 172cm tall (that’s 5 feet 8 inches); male models need to be aged between 16 and 28 years old and at least 182cm tall (or 6 feet). If you are under 18-years-old you need to bring a letter from your parents authorising your entry into the competition.

Make sure you wear as little makeup as possible and clothing that shows off your body shape like skinny jeans, leggings and a simple tee.

After the castings have finished a total of 60 contestants – 40 girls and 20 guys – will be chosen to participate in the National Casting held on October 26, 2012. The EML judges will then chose 18 contestants – 12 girls and 6 guys – to enter the Singapore Grand Final on November 9, 2012.

If you’re one of the lucky ones chosen for the grand final you’ll get a taste of what it means to be a top model being chauffeured from 5 star hotel to 5 star hotel, getting professional hair and makeup done, being styled in luxury labels and undergoing catwalk training and show rehearsals and finally getting to strut your stuff to a crowd of over 2,000 people.

And just so you don’t think fashion is completely flighty; Elite Model Look Singapore’s vision of “fashion with a purpose” has seen the event tie up with Singapore’s Bone Marrow Donor Programme Partnership (BMDP) “Match For Life” programme to help raise public awareness of the importance of donors in the fight against leukemia and other blood-related diseases.

So, what are you waiting for? Make sure you’re tall enough, get that permission letter from your parents if you need it, and plan your weekend trip to the EML casting. Who knows, you could be Singapore’s next supermodel?

Elite Model Look Singapore castings are on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at ARC, the Alexander Retail Centre; on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at J Cube; on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at VivoCity and on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Tampines Mall.
