The style icons that will take the DVF wrap dress around the world

Turning 40 has never looked so fabulous, and we have the Diana von Furstenberg wrap dress to thank for that revelation. The iconic fashion piece celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2014 and the birthday party will span the world. Dubbed the “Journey of a Dress”, DVF will send the wrap dress from country to country care of various style influencers. One dress done in 10 vastly different styles, thanks to supermodels Coco Rocha and Jourdan Dunn; actress Emma Roberts, and a whole troop of fashion bloggers that includes Song of Style’s Aimee Song, The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni and popular Weibo blogger Linda Li.

The fashionable group will document how they make the wrap dress their own through social media. We are pretty sure the 10 imaginative fashion icons will present the wrap dress in experimental ways never seen before, including the iconic black and white chain link pattern. This familiar print was the subject of von Furstenberg’s first advertisement back in the day to an appearance in Michelle’s Obama’s first White House Christmas card.

Von Furstenberg herself is excited to see where the women take the dress and says, “The power of the wrap dress comes from women all around the world. How they have worn it, what they’ve accomplished and how it has made them feel.”

First up, is Rocha who shows off her dance-influenced style in the video below. After all, the model’s first wrap dress was the ballet uniform from her childhood. Watch the video to hear what Rocha has to say about the iconic piece.
