Donna Karan’s Spring 2013 graced New York’s runway on September 10, and is apparently said to be inspired by the view from her office window.

The presentation was called Sunrise, Sunset and included demure day dresses boasting full skirts, soft layers and wrap detailing. The colours were kept simple, so pale grey skirts which hit just below the knee were paired with long-line waistcoats in a slightly lighter hue.

Lace was also a big look, although the wearability of a dress from the fabric worn over some large knickers remains to be seen.

As the show continued more colour was introduced, so the grey gave way to lilac and purple dresses with voluminous skirts and deep V-necks, while rose pink, yellow and burnt orange also got a look in.
