You might not know him by name, but Dirk Schönberger was instrumental in making the iconic Stan Smith sneakers cool again. The former Creative Director of Adidas, Schönberger was also key in many of the brand’s biggest collaborations – Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and Yohji Yamamoto, just to name a few.
And it is this innovation and expertise that the German designer will bring with him to his new post as MCM’s (Moderne Creation München) Global Creative Officer. In this position, Schönberger will develop product design, brand experience and lead global strategies to create a united, creative image for the cult luxury leather label.
MCM is known for their leather bags with the signature Visetos print that will satisfy any logomania fanatic, and have a following of celebrity fans that include K-pop artistes G-Dragon and Rain.
You’re going to have to wait a while more to see Schönberger’s works in stores as the first of his designs will be introduced in early 2019 while his first full collection with MCM will drop at Spring/Summer 2020.
In the interim, satisfy your MCM craving at their largest store in Paragon, where their new fall collection is now available for sale.
