Held in the Mediterranean principality of Monaco, the Dior Resort 2014 show took place May 18, hot on the heels of Chanel’s recent swing through Singapore.

The first resort show for the brand by creative director Raf Simons, it saw a Grand Prix-themed soundtrack set the pace for a racy collection that mixed the modern and the classic.
Simons served up a selection of classic Dior shapes (including the famous ‘bar suit’) with his usual modern, minimalist twist. Models wore sleek center-parted ponytails with fuchsia lips and subtle metallic eyeshadow.
For the Resort 2014 collection, the designer made a key feature of delicate lace, cut into sporty light shirts, blouses and shorts. The material also appeared in asymmetrical panels on dresses and skirts.
There was also a touch of the irridescent color used to devastating effect in Simons’ first ready-to-wear collection for the brand for Spring 2013.
Accessories included two tone gradient handbags, oversized sunglasses and metallic cuff bracelets.
