Famed for producing ballet flats and flat shoes of exquisite quality and high levels of comfort since its founding in 1918, Pretty Ballerinas has been a huge hit locally since it arrived at our sunny shores in 2015 – what with the international shoe brand designing exclusive ballerina flats for Singaporean women

Apart from being known for its timeless voguishness without crimping on comfort, Pretty Ballerinas’ shoes are also known for its wide choice of colour combinations, patterns and designs. From casual espadrilles that exude serious bohemian vibes – especially when they are adorned with bright pom poms and tassels – to no-nonsense suede black loafers that are perfect when it comes to pairing with your everyday work wear; there is a pair of Pretty Ballerinas fit for every occasion, style and personality.

Unarguably, one of the best-selling and signature styles of Pretty Ballerinas has got to be the Ellas. Similar to most of the brand’s other shoe styles that were named after female icons from the 1960s and 1970s when ballerinas were first fashionable, the Ella was named after Ella Fitzgerald, one of the greatest female singers in history.

What sets the Ellas apart is its sleek pointed-toe, making it an edgier version of the classic, feminine ballerina flats that feature a rounded-toe silhouette. Available in the style of loafers and mules, the Ellas have American entrepreneur Olivia Palermo‘s seal of approval. The style icon’s love for the shoes has brought her as far as designing her own line of Ellas in collaboration with the brand.

Come Apr 25-28, 2019, the popular Ellas will be available for customisation in both loafers and mules with the choice to add on tassels, at local Pretty Ballerinas stores.

Be spoilt for choice with over 90 base fabrics and more than 70 trim options to choose from. Fabrics range from classic leather, suede, patent, glitter-coated and animal-printed leather. Each variation of fabric comes in a variety of colours and design ranges. For both shoe styles, pick a base fabric for the Ella’s upper body, as well as your preferred ribbon trimming. When it comes to the option of tassels, a combination of up to three different colours is available.

Prices of the customised Ellas start from $320 for a pair of mules without tassels, and vary according to the styles and fabrics chosen.

Good things are worth the wait

If you wish to customise your own pair of Ellas, simply make an appointment with the store of your choice. After which, each pair of customised order will take eight weeks to be produced as all orders are intricately handmade by the master craftsmen in Menorca, Spain, where all other Pretty Ballerinas shoes are made as well.
