Americana was the inspiration for Coach‘s British designer Stuart Vevers. More specifically, he was inspired by the look of Santa Fe and the American spirit it exuded.
But Vevers never stopped thinking about the aesthetic of New York City, where the brand’s core is. And it is this dual influence that gave rise to his latest Spring/Summer ‘19 collection – think prairie skirts and frills and ruffles interlaced with leather and fringe.

Statement jewellery was also heavily featured on Coach’s runway – but with their own unique spin. Style tip: Layer pendants of varying lengths for dynamic accessorising.
One aspect we particularly love about this runway collection was Vevers’ show of styling prowess. And so, we have compiled six of his best looks and teach you how to recreate that prairie rocker chick look.

Long and short

Playing with varying outfit lengths is one way to add dimension to the outfit. For this look, Stuart opted to layer a longer coat over a shorter dress, making this pairing fun and flirty yet modest and work appropriate.
Masc x Fem

Another styling tip is to play with masculine and feminine silhouettes. For this look, a boxy, boyish sleeveless baseball jacket is layered over a frilly, lightweight dress. You can recreate this look with a structured blazer over a slip dress, for example.
Play with textures

Combining hard and soft textures is one of the easiest way to style a look. Like this ensemble, wearing an outerwear with a sturdier fabric like leather and denim over flowy, lightweight cotton or silk dresses creates a feminine yet rocker chic look.
Rock the oversized
image
Love the oversized trend but afraid to look too clunky? Try longline silhouettes like this sweater from Coach instead. They add length rather than width by tricking the eye to think that the torso is elongated, so you won’t risk looking like you have a few extra pounds around the waist. (PS: This jacket is part of a Disney x Coach collaboration!)
Boot it on

If you love shoes as much as we do, you would know that shoes can make an outfit shine. Footwear is another way to style a look: take it from Vevers, who paired the soft, cream hued slip dress with a dark camel fringe leather boot.
Scarf it

Scarves are an easy way to introduce colour and print to your outfit. And if you’re afraid that it wouldn’t make sense to add a scarf in Singapore’s climate, go with a thin scarf made of natural fibres, tie it loose and you’re good to go.
