The amazing Karl Lagerfeld has transformed the Grand Palais into a supermarket, a demonstration boulevard and, now into a mechanical greenhouse for the Chanel Haute Couture shows. For Spring Summer 2015, the architectural set was installed with a machine-driven greenhouse surrounded with white plants created from stiff, pristine paper.
The hothouse and botanical theme kicked off with male models ‒ including Karl’s personal friend and favourite Baptiste Giabiconi ‒ wearing brimmed hats and carrying watering cans sauntering around the garden, sprinkling the plants with imaginary water.
Suddenly the white shapes bloomed with rich colours and voila, it was spring again!
French model Josephine Le Tutour opened the show in a bright orange skirt and continued with pink, red, blue, yellow and green alongside classic Chanel black and white.

Karl’s regular roster of muses including Saskia de Brauw, Lindsey Wixson and Soo Joo Park paraded around the Chanel garden wearing beekeeper appropriate veils in the form of hats or beanies accessorised with black leather sock-boots.

Chanel’s signature tweed jacket was also on show in various guises, including with 3/4 length sleeves, rounded shoulders and wide necklines; or as outerwear with long sleeves worn over dresses and skirts with fringe-looking raw hems.

For the finale gowns, Lagerfeld went crazy with embellishment … Dresses, capes and boleros were garlanded with three-dimensional flowers, while tonnes of tulle and organza were used for a series of black and white looks.

The Chanel Haute Couture show ended, as it always does, with Karl’s bride … for Spring Summer 2015 she wore a cropped top paired with a full skirt and a royal-wedding-worthy train all emblazoned with thousands of three-dimensionals organza flowers … A very youthful, springtime bride.
