Chanel showed its dominance in the world of fashion with its Fall/Winter 13 presentation.

The label showed at the Grand Palais as part of Paris Fashion Week this morning and left guests in no doubt that it will always be one of the most iconic labels around.

Known for producing stunning sets, creative director Karl Lagerfeld didn’t disappoint. Models walked a circular catwalk which boasted a giant globe in its centre. The fashion house’s renowned CC logo decorated the model of the world, while the women marched to the backing tune of Daft Punk’s “Around the World”.

While at Fendi – one of the other labels Karl works for – fur was big news, at Chanel the hide was used more sparingly. This didn’t make it any less eye-catching though, with models wearing brightly-coloured fake fur hats in red and pink, which sat snugly over their heads – almost making them look as if they had bobbed hair.

The Chanel tweed-like fabric was prevalent, featuring in boxy jackets paired with mid-thigh shorts in the same material. The look was made edgy thanks to the shiny riding boots, which stretched up to the shorts’ hem.

Coats were kept to mid-thigh and worn with slim trousers, which weren’t overly tight. Fur snaked down the front of the coats, stretching across the shoulders and down the chest.

For those looking for something sexier, a stand-out piece was a bright blue coat worn with leather thigh-high boots with chain detailing.

Midi and maxi skirts made their way down the runway, both boasting pleats and worn with either thigh-high boots or biker varieties. Both types of footwear were decorated with chains, adding to the rocker vibe.

Aviator coats, tunic tops and white shirts also made an appearance, with Chanel embracing the trend for layering which has been seeing during show season.

The label always attracts an A-list crowd and today was no different, with Jessica Chastain, Vanessa Paradis, Alice Dellal, Anna Wintour and Milla Jovovich all present.
