Chanel runways shows are always a must-see. Especially the Metiers d’Art shows that are actually more like full-blown festivals with a star-studded cast of both guests and models, and after parties that rival none.

Needless to say, the fashion world expected nothing less from Karl Lagerfeld for Pre-fall 2014. The Chanel crew flew to the lone star state of America and Dallas set the stage for the Metiers d’Art show. Dallas seems to be the ideal place to host a spectacle of this size. Besides everything being bigger in Texas – or so the saying goes – the city is also the same place where Coco Chanel received the Neiman Marcus’ Award for Distinguished Service in the field of fashion back in 1957.

So Uncle Karl brought it all back to Dallas by hosting a drive-in movie – he arrived in a convertible with the top down and Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley in town – for the premiere of The Return. The premise of the short film was really apt as the storyline was about Chanel on the eve of the 1954 show, the same one she received the Neiman Marcus award for. The after-party was a Western affair – a saloon, complete with mechanical bull was built for the occasion.

Young starlets like Dakota Fanning, Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart – the latter was announced to be the face of the campaign collection after – were right in the front row of the runway action. A barn with scattered hay was constructed in the Fair Park in Dallas for the highlight of the night.

The models could have passed off as high-fashion extras in an old-school Western – cowboys and Indians were brought back through the Chanel time machine. Solo feathers were plunged into some models’ hair while feathered headdresses adorn other heads. A parade of weathered cowboy hats also made an appearance and all cheeks had gold “war” paint across.

There was loads of denim, leather, fringe and surprisingly houndstooth – stay tuned to herworldPLUS as we break down the must-see looks of the Chanel Metiers d’Art show.

The Chanel Metiers d’Art show took place on December 10, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. For more information about Chanel, go to www.chanel.com/en_SG/.
