Top fashion houses including Chanel and Miu Miu have been making nods to Hollywood in their latest video campaigns, with the former releasing a silent film starring Alice Dellal and Miu Miu unveiling the spooky final installment of its Giada Colagrande-directed saga.

Chanel and Miu Miu unveil moody short filmsChanel’s eagerly anticipated Spring 2012 Boy bag campaign starring Dellal was revealed February 15, and continuing the current buzz surrounding silent movie The Artist the only sound accompanying Dellal’s desperate quest for her Boy bag is the dramatic sound of a piano.

As expected Thrush Metal drummer and model Dellal has brought her rockier edge to the campaign too, as she sports dreadlocks and her trademark ripped tights and leather.

This follows from the more traditional front women Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld has selected for campaigns in the past, with all-American actress Blake Lively fronting the Mademoiselle handbag campaign last year.

While there is a slightly eerie feel to the dark, lamp-lit Dellal clip, this spookiness is taken even further in Miu Miu’s recently unveiled short film “The Woman Dress” starring Italian actress Maya Sansa.

Directed by Italian moviemaker Colagrande, the short film is the third installment of the Italian fashion house’s Women’s Tales Saga. It sees models transforming themselves into dresses and features surrealist cinema influences such as reverse-speak and dreamlike sequences.

The film also introduces viewers to the new Miu Miu Cultes sunglasses, which can be preordered now at miumiu.com with a retail price of $390. — AFP RELAXNEWS
