Burberry has marked the opening of its new Taipei store with a custom built 360-degree cylindrical space providing a sensory experience of British weather.

The English fashion house has launched Burberry World Live, a project in which guests are invited to step inside the dome combining film and live music. The April 26 event included interactive simulated British weather with leaves and golden rain falling from the ceiling.

“We’re talking about all the different facets of the brand – fashion, design, music, weather and attitude,” chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, told British Vogue.

“It’s all part of an immersive space that we’ve custom-built opposite our latest new store. It’s basically the whole concept of the brand wrapped in one experience and a big celebration of the multi-faceted jewel that is Burberry. It’s a celebration of Britishness all around the globe.”

The project in Taipei is the first of many to come as it is set to be taken to Hong Kong, London and Chicago later this year.

Christopher recently discussed the brand during an appearance at The Vogue Festival in London. He said Burberry was a diamond “trodden in the dust” when he first joined the label in 2001 and has enjoyed watching it grow. © COVER MEDIA
