Charlotte, who is the founder and director of Boutiques Fair, says: “It is indeed heartening to see so many design talents coming together under one roof, and adding a shine to the Singapore brand.” Cain says. “Over the years, we have seen a good number of them flourish and grow in stature and presence, and we hope that Boutique Fairs continues to be a part of their growth trajectory.”
With only three days to discover 300 independent brands, we zoom in on six fashion brands you should check out at Boutiques Fair 2019.

Launching officially in May 2019, Our Barehands is a platform that co-creates fashion and lifestyle pieces with small-producing communities around the world, with the aim of connecting them to the global market and building a sustainable livelihood for them. One of our favourite collaborations is the Wayuu Mustard Bag, a striking sling bag hand-crocheted by the women of the indigenous Wayuu tribe in Colombia.

Known for its vibrant Dhoti pants and eclectic prints, Singapore label Matter is all about mainstreaming rural artisan production. From working with artisan members to develop heritage-based fabrics to producing garments in a fair factory, Matter ultimately wants to inspire consumers to question where and why something is made, and to celebrate heritage. We’re absolutely obsessed with how their prints can be layered over one another for a super chic look.

Focusing on sustainability and an aesthetic of relaxed timeless elegance, luxury bag label Ling Wu is like a breath of fresh air. Not only are the bags versatile and lightweight, they also made using ethically sourced skins. But what we love most is the nod to Asian heritage, particularly the rich colour palette inspired by Asian spices such as saffron, chilli and star anise.
