Quality craftsmanship has been the standard of Italian luxury fashion house Bottega Veneta since its inception so it is little wonder the brand takes its relationship with the artisanal communities it works with seriously. Bottega Veneta’s mission to preserve these artisanal traditions has been both the source behind its quality goods and result of its success.

It is this shared commitment to craftsmanship that brought about the partnership between Bottega Veneta and famed maker of fine porcelain Koenigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (known as KPM). KPM porcelain is prized for its purity, remarkable strength and bright whiteness. To this day, the royal blue scepter of Frederick the Great (King of Prussia)’s symbol continues to mark every KPM piece.

Bottega Veneta has created a limited edition of its iconic Knot clutch to commemorate the 250th anniversary of KPM. The small, rounded box clutch is one of the fashion house’s most beloved pieces. This exquisite version features a front embellished with a porcelain medallion with hand-carved angels, produced exclusively for Bottega Veneta, and two porcelain emblems flank the medallion on each side.
The frame and Knot closure are adorned by poured glass enriched with gold powder hand-cut to resemble gemstones before being applied one by one by hand. Each bag is numbered with the words “250th Anniversary KPM” inscribed on a sterling plate inside the clutch.

A collection of jewellery has also been developed in collaboration with KPM for the occasion. Each piece – from rings to necklaces – will bear the stamp of the royal blue scepter on each porcelain element to guarantee the authenticity of KPM’s porcelain.

“We decided to work with KPM because, like Bottega Veneta, they place a high value on tradition, quality, and innovation,” says Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier. “Our ongoing collaboration has been extremely fruitful and we have continued to evolve the Intreccio Svanito collection, the basis for our partnership, through the years. To honor their 250th anniversary, we wanted to highlight their porcelain differently from what people expect, while illustrating the extraordinary abilities of both KPM and Bottega Veneta’s artisans.”

The commemorative jewellery and Knot bag will be available exclusively from the end of July 2013, and the end of September 2013, respectively at Bottega Veneta stores and can be reserved by pre-order.
