Victoria Beckham and Sarah Burton were honoured with the highest accolades at this year’s British Fashion Awards (BFAs).
The glamorous event was held at the Savoy Hotel in London on Monday night. Victoria was the winner of the Designer Brand of the Year Award, competing against Stella McCartney and Tom Ford.
Donned in a stunning black backless gown, the designer was tearful at the podium when she received her prize.
“I’m so sorry for crying. This is really rubbish of me. I am so nervous, this means so much to me,” she told the audience. “Without [my husband] David [Beckham] I wouldn’t have had the courage to do what I’m doing.”
Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton won the Designer of the Year Award. Sarah, who designed British Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton’s iconic wedding dress, beat out nominees Christopher Kane and Erdem Moralioglu.
Posing for a provocative corset editorial in the September 2011 edition of Vogue Italia, 40-year-old Stella Tennant took Model of the Year award.
Alexa Chung scooped up the British Style Award for the second year in the row. Actress Kate Hudson and the British Prime Minister’s wife Samantha Cameron were amongst the notables in attendance to support the nominees yesterday evening.
