Audi Fashion Festival (AFF), one of Singapore’s most illustrious fashion events, is celebrating its fifth birthday in 2013. To mark this milestone year, there are plenty of shakeups and new initiatives for the five-day event that will take place from May 15 to May 19, 2013.
One of the biggest changes will be its location. Traditionally held at the Tent @ Orchard on Orchard Road, this year’s AFF will instead be held at the Tent @ Marina Promenade, right behind the Singapore Flyer and next to the Formula 1 Pit Building. This new location and tent will be significantly bigger than the old venue; it is 40 per cent larger and can hold 800 guests.
This is in line with Audi Fashion Festival’s goal to attract more than 20,000 visitors to the event, up from 13,200 last year. There will also be a whole host of fashion concepts for attendees, including a fashion cafe that will be run by the team behind MU Parlour, The Boathouse and Spathe Public House; a fashion and lifestyle photography exhibition by Sony and a complete wine appreciation event by The Straits Wine Company.
Thanks to the spanking new location with its gorgeous waterfront view, all segments of Asia Fashion Exchange – of which AFF is a part of – will be housed together. This includes Blueprint Trade Show and Emporium, Asia Fashion Summit and Audi Star Creation. Guests will no longer have to travel from one location to the other to attend all the events.
The designer lineup is just as exciting. Opening the festival this year will be Carolina Herrera, who will show pieces from her mainline Carolina Herrera New York and her diffusion line CH Carolina Herrera.
Closing the festival will be visionary British-Turkish designer, Hussein Chalayan, who is best known for his innovative use of materials that involve some form of novel technology. His works have been recognised as technological marvels even beyond the fashion industry.
Other confirmed showings include quirky Japanese designer Tsumori Chisato, who will be showing her Autumn Winter 2013 collection as well as returning Singaporean designer, Ashley Isham, who has made a name for himself in London.

Local fashion stalwarts will look forward to Singapore-based fashion label Zardoze, which will debut at AFF this year with their Autumn Winter 2013 and premium Panthea 2013 collection. Zardoze’s head designer is 2011 Star Creation winner Chen Zhigang, who is working under their Creative Director, John Paul Rangel. A highlight will be the closing dress, a 130-carat diamond dress valued at over half a million dollars.
Victoria’s Secret supermodel, Erin Heatherton, will also be a highlight of AFF this year. She will be walking for Singapore’s very own international fashion brand, Raoul.
There’s more excitement to be had for AFF attendees who attend the after party on May 17 at W Singapore, the festival’s official music partner. Rising American hip-hop singer and rapper Azealia Banks will be specially flown in to perform at the after party. A muse to Alexander Wang, Banks is considered by many to be fashion’s girl of the moment with her insouciant attitude and keen fashion sense.
From the looks of things, Audi Fashion Festival 2013 looks set to be five whirlwind days of fashion, glamour and excitement and we can’t wait to find out who else will be heading this way come May. Watch this space!
