A new app designed for fashion editors and consumers alike has been launched ahead of the imminent New York Fashion Week, allowing fashionistas to identify outfit details and save looks to their phones from the Made Fashion Week shows.

Alternative NY fashion week launches outfit-identifying app

Originally launched as MAC & Milk, Made Fashion Week is now in its sixth season and offers an alternative outlet for designers not wanting to showcase at the more famous Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week venues. Designers partaking this season include Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Peter Som, Sophie Theallet and Erin Fetherston, with shows set to take place from February 8 – 15.

Available for download at the Apple app store and the Android Market, the Made Fashion Week mobile app will be in sync with catwalk presentations, telling users which outfit is on display and offering details including the designer’s name, biography and contact information. Users can then save the outfit to their phone and also share favorite images via social media.

Those not attending the live event can launch the app via the Livestream video broadcast of each show. Desktop and mobile users will also be able to watch Made Fashion Week presentations via Milkmade.com, Lxtv.com and New York magazine’s The Cut site.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week runs February 9- 16, with top American creators including Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein showcasing their Fall 2012 ready-to-wear lines. Labels such as Michael Kors, Vera Wang and Betsey Johnson will be live-streaming their shows at the following channel, where a full broadcast schedule can be found: http://www.youtube.com/liverunway.
