Alicia Keys says this is why all mothers need perfumes B.png

Alicia Keys gets filled with love when she smells certain scents.

The American star is the new face of Givenchy’s latest perfume, Dahlia Divin. As well as being able to pose in a campaign for such a famous fashion house, fragrance holds a lot of meaning to the 33-year-old.

“Certain scents evoke comfort and familiarity. My grandmother’s scent was gardenia and my mother’s was white musk. Even now, they fill me with love and good memories because both my mother and my grandmother are tremendous inspirations to me,” Alicia revealed to the British version of Hello! magazine.

“As you grow up, those scents tend to come back to you in different ways.”

Dahlia Divin is encased in a square bottle, embossed with gold writing. In the accompanying shoot Alicia is also decked out in gold, in a dress designed by Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci.

As well as reminding Alicia of key members of her family, perfume also gives the star a rare moment to pamper herself.

As well as a busy music career, Alicia is also mom to son Egypt, three, with husband Swizz Beatz. The couple also announced in July they are expecting their second child together.

“I wear perfume often – it’s part of getting ready. As a working mother, sometimes I’m too busy to remember to take time for myself, but perfume can be a wonderful reminder to take a minute, breath and face the day.”
