NEW YORK – Fashion designer Alexander Wang showed his Spring/Summer 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week and celebrated with a huge party that evening.

He staged the bash at Pier 40 in New York, and covered the entire area with Astroturf. “[It had] a frat-house-party theme complete with glow sticks, jello shots, damaged garden gnomes and blow up sex dolls,” reports New York Post.

A ping-pong table was erected, while guests were also able to play beer pong if they wanted to. A keg of beer was on hand for thirsty partygoers while bottles of beer were kept cool thanks to a bath.

Alexander was on hand to get people into the mood and was spotted throwing some shapes on the dance floor. Guests included actor Bryan Greenberg, who admitted Alexander’s show had been a bit too much for him.

“It was pretty overwhelming to be honest,” he told WWD. “It was so intense. It’s like exactly what you thought a fashion show would be like. You know what I mean? Like from the movies … but, I do think he’s got a vision, man. It’s pretty amazing.”

Also enjoying the party were Penn Badgley, who was seen smooching his rumoured girlfriend Zoë Kravitz, Christina Ricci, Jared Leto and Russell Simmons.

Wang’s SS2012 collection shown earlier in the evening seems to have been inspired by sport. While zip-up tops and leggings were undoubtedly high-fashion, the palette of white, yellow and black and geometric prints gave pieces a relaxed vibe.

One of the best looks from the runway was a purple and black utility shift with low-slung pockets, teamed with a red bag. Bustiers were teamed with floral print leggings and jumpers have clashing chevron prints which at times seemed a little too busy.

But the main hit of the show was Alexander’s three-year-old niece though. She sat proudly front row in a head-to-toe bespoke Wang outfit, including leather skirt and Mary Janes. © COVER MEDIA
