Alber Elbaz: You can’t buy styleAlber Elbaz insists style is the “only thing” that can’t be bought.

The Lanvin designer thinks some people are born with a natural eye for style. Alber also thinks wardrobe choices should be a reflection of someone’s character.

“Style is the only thing you can’t buy. It’s not in a shopping bag, a label or a price tag,” he told the March edition of UK magazine Marie Claire. “It’s something reflected from your soul to the outside world. An emotion.”

Alber applies this philosophy when designing. The clothes creator has discussed his new collection, and has revealed he wants to inspire women with his pieces.

“When I created this collection, I had one single idea in mind: Hell’s Angels. I don’t dress women in power but women who are powerful. I added the notion of wings because if we can fly, we are free. And freedom is power,” he explained.

“There was also a link with hell. This led to the snake accessories, the wings in diamonds. This paradox created a tension that, for me, is life itself.”
