SEOUL – Despite the below freezing weather (yes, really!) the street style stars of Seoul Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2015 really made an effort to stand out in more spring appropriate looks. The really clever ones used colour and pattern to brighten up their outfit without freezing to death. The really serious fashion fans just suffered for their art!
Here are some of my favourite looks from our friendly photographer Nicholas Ng …
1. WEAR ONE COLOUR FROM HEAD TO TOE
Stylish, bold and elegant (and mostly warm except for her midriff!). This is the way to do strong colour; as a trouser suit the red is powerful not tacky. A fun bag adds a fashion feel.
2. WEAR THE SAME PATTERN AS SEPARATES
Instead of going for a boring floral dress, try flower patterned separates; they will look much more polished for work and are great value since you’ll get lots more looks by parring each item with a neutral or denim.
3. MIX YOUR BRIGHT COLOUR WITH NEUTRALS
Neutrals don’t only include black and white; try beige as another option to tone down a colourful look.
4. WEAR ONE BRIGHTLY PATTERNED PIECE
If you don’t want to think too much about your mixing ‘n’ matching, go for a single brightly patterned piece. Jackets and coats are particularly good for this … We’re loving the red and blue coat Singapore’s Gilda Su (above) is wearing – it’s from her own label Revasseur. Represent!
5. ADD A SINGLE POP OF COLOUR TO YOUR LOOK
A bright pair of socks on an all monotone outfit is a great, small, way to add colour to your look. Or try a coloured bag.
6. MASTERCLASS … WEAR A MIX OF COLOUR & PATTERN
Amazingly the khaki and sunflower yellow look great together when toned down with the gold shirt … Total colour mastery.
Stylist and K-Style TV show host Sarah has perfectly blended print and colour by picking out two primaries ‒ hot pink and blue – to tie the look together from top-to-toe.
By choosing to stick to the colours of the skirt, this look is totally together despite there being five colours involved – without that patterned skirt it would be a disaster!
EXTRA … EVEN THE BOYS ARE DOING IT 🙂
And if you need any more persuasion, even the guys are going for candy coloured brights on the streets of Seoul!
