1. Spring Summer 2016 is the “FUNCTION REGALIA” Collection.

Regalia is defined in Wikipedia as “the emblems or insignia of royalty, especially the crown, sceptre, and other ornaments used at a coronation.” This ornamentation was brought into Burberry’s classic coats and practical garments by via metallic cording, crested buttons and hand-embroidered military motifs. The looks were comprised of long fluid dresses that were worn with “military” style jackets and coats. Colours varied from black and navy to white, gold, cream and a kind of “nude” colour ‒ beige really. English lace, silk satin and double-faced cashmere were some of the materials used with the embellishment coming from gold and Swarovski crystal artwork, polka dots and toggles.

2. There were heaps of ASIAN CELEBRITIES …

Attended by numerous personalities from models (like Kate Moss on the front row and not walking the show) and actors to musicians, the Burberry show also had a bunch of top Asian celebrities like Guey Lun Mei, Sun Li, Miriam Yeung, and Liu Wen among others.

3. Burberry is a DIGITAL POWER PLAYER.

This season further strengthened the brand’s partnership with Snapchat, after its successful collaboration in February 2015 snapping key live moments from its Autumn Winter 2015 Womenswear collection. Through Snapchat, Burberry sent off a preview of this season’s collection and the finishing touches that were made, live from Burberry’s headquarters in London. And yes, there was even a special “snap” appearance by Anna Wintour, receiving her invitation to the show.

The makeup look of “satin skin with effortless, natural contouring and highlights, nude open eyes and statement lips in iconic Burberry shade Oxblood or signature Nude Beige” (pictured above) was developed by Burberry’s makeup artistic consultant Wendy Rowe was also revealed on Snapchat the day before the show.

4. Burberry is BELOVED BY MODELS …

As one of the most coveted shows for any season, the Burberry catwalk is seen as a springboard to future stardom. This season’s opener and closer was Victoria Kosenkova (above left) from Elite London and another striking beauty ‒ Hayett McCarthy from IMG (above right) ‒ walked exclusively for the brand in London. Expect to see both of them “blow up” soon.

5. The RUCKSACK (backpack) is back.

The favourite 80s school kid backpack, a nylon “rucksack” was the accessory of the day (week?) after Burberry did a number on it. It gave the whole “Regalia” concept a more easygoing and informal mood.
