Once again this year, a number of fashion campaigns set the web abuzz  whether thanks to in-vogue models, celebrity brand ambassadors, famous photographers or controversial images. Here is a recap of some of the campaigns that left their mark on 2014.

3. Madonna for Versace

5 most memorable fashion campaigns of 2014 VERSACE

After recruiting Lady Gaga in 2013, the Italian fashion house decided to honor a page from its history by naming Madonna as the face of the Spring-Summer 2015 collection. The first images from this fourth partnership between Versace and the pop queen were revealed in early December. Shot by the famous fashion photography duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, the campaign  in black and white  shows Madonna looking determined, sensual and more youthful than ever.

4. Julia Roberts for Givenchy

5 most memorable fashion campaigns of 2014 GIVENCHY

The final months of 2014 brought us plenty of fashion news, but one announcement seems to have sparked more buzz than any other: that of Julia Roberts as Givenchy’s latest spokesmodel. At age 47, the actress and producer is the face of the luxury brand’s Spring-Summer 2015 collection. The first photos, revealed on social networks in early December, show the “Pretty Woman” star wearing a very androgynous look, with a black tuxedo jacket, a shirt with a contrasting white collar, and minimal makeup.

5. Anna Ewers for Alexander Wang

5 most memorable fashion campaigns of 2014 WANG

Unlike the last two campaigns listed above, this one didn’t spark buzz as much for its spokesmodel (though supermodel Anna Ewers is certainly one to follow in 2015) as for her nudity. In the Denim X Alexander Wang campaign from the eponymous American designer, photographer Steven Klein captured the young blonde in a very racy pose. One shot shows a close-up of Ewers’ thighs with a hand placed over her privates, while another shows her from head to toe, completely naked except for the jeans around her ankles. Needless to say, the images quickly made the rounds on the internet.
