I’ve always been a neutral kind of girl when it comes to the colour choices of my outfits: My wardrobe only consists of black, white, grey and denim.

However, thanks to the colourful Spring Summer offerings in stores and the very alluring Pantone colours of the year, I must say I’m inclined to branch out of my comfort zone.

For those of you who’re afraid of colour, we are here to help. I know the idea can be daunting, but it can really switch things up. Of course I still love the classic minimalistic way of dressing up, but jazzing things up with a punchy pop here and there has made me look and feel fresher and younger!

Here are five baby steps that you can take to add some colours to your outfit.

1. Nail polish

Let’s start small. Your nails may seem inconspicuous, but trust me, they definitely make a difference when it comes to accenting your look. If you’re game, go for some loud neons!

2. Vibrant shoes

Shoes are actually one of the best accessories to pull an outfit together. If you are not comfortable with wearing colour, you can opt for shoes with bright hues to spruce up your ensemble.

3. Statement bag

Even though this is the easiest way to inject colour into your outfit, most people are reluctant to invest in a bag that is not of a neutral hue. However, as long as you select a silhouette that’s classic, it will still be as timeless and wearable as the blacks and greys.

4. Sunglasses with coloured lens

They add just the right dose of drama to a monochromatic outfit. Mirrored lenses are still on trend, so consider jumping on the bandwagon with a pair in cheerful orange or blue!

5. Scarves

We’ve mentioned recently that a scarf is one surefire way to take your look from #basic to #boss in a jiffy. And guess what? It’s also a great way to wear colours! Draping a printed scarf over your monochrome outfit will instantly up your sartorial game.
