It’s just recently been announced that the Pantone Colour of the Year 2015 will be marsala – a muted shade similar to a softened burgundy. The word marsala itself is usually linked with a wine of the same name which is regularly used in cooking and also to a city in Sicily, Italy.
Whilst the colour has drawn criticisms online for its retro vibe, we think it’s beautiful, so we’ve worked with image provider Alamy to create a marsala-inspired range of images to help you get ready to add marsala to your fashion wardrobe and beauty palettes. Hopefully you’ll love it as much as we do!
Check out our inspirations in the gallery below.
Marsala as a colour is obvious in any number of foodstuffs and other beauties from nature; it’s also terribly easy to use particularly for makeup colours as a soft, rich hue for lipstick like this Tom Ford one (pictured below), or even for eyeshadow shades.
As for adding the colour to the wardrobe, a number of major designers were already showing it on the runway for Spring Summer 2015, plus you can see it on the latest New Balance sneakers (below top), bags from Sophie Hulme (below bottom), and on separates from Zara; it will be a very easy addition to your look.
