Whatever your preferred mode of transport, the only garment to be seen in right now is a pair of snazzy cycling shorts.
We aren’t talking about unflattering plain black lycra ones though, this season’s hottest pairs feature stunning prints and will make for the coolest of fashion statements.

Models at the Spring/Summer 11 Versus catwalk show looked adorable in bright floral print cycling shorts, which were teamed with matching tops and essential sunglasses. Other up-and-coming styles include polka dot pairs, as well as tartan and stripey ones. Beware of the latter in the horizontal form though, as cycling shorts can be dangerous for curvier girls at the best of times. If you are blessed with womanly hips then go for vertical stripes instead.
In terms of accessories, avoid your knee pads and cycling helmet unless you genuinely are about to hit the open road. These colourful shorts actually look best teamed with something plain on top and a pair of sneakers or ballet pumps.
Wearing cycling shorts and heels works on the catwalk, but it might be just a little too fashion-forward for day-to-day attire. It’s best to match this close-fitting trend with a baggy top too, as unless you have a model figure too much tightness will just be unforgiving. A plain coloured T-shirt can be picked up from any high street store, and will make for a laidback-yet-trendy aesthetic. © Cover Media
